Al-Asmā’ al-Husnà (الأسماء الحسنى), en árabe, “los nombres más hermosos”, también llamados los noventa y nueve nombres de Dios o noventa y nueve nombres de Alá, son las formas de referirse a Dios en el Islam.
En su mayor parte son epítetos que hacen referencia a atributos divinos. La existencia de los 99 nombres se debe a un hadiz (dicho atribuido al profeta Mahoma): “Dios tiene noventa y nueve nombres, cien menos uno. Quien los enumere entrará en el Paraíso. Él es el singular, y le gusta que Sus nombres sean enumerados uno a uno” (hadiz de Abu Hurayra).
Aunque existe otro hadith atribuido al profeta en el que se detallan cuáles son los 99 nombres, los especialistas musulmanes afirman que la lista no es obra de Mahoma sino de los transmisores del hadith. En definitiva, no hay un total consenso sobre los nombres que componen la lista ni su orden, existiendo varias versiones de la misma. Los nombres han sido extraídos del Corán y de la Sunna.
